How I Live Now (2013, Kevin Macdonald)

August 7, 2015

Yes, jackpot, finally the feeling of being in the hands of a capable movie maker. We experience the outbreak of a British war through the life of a group of teenagers, with a coming of age love story as a red thread. This is five-minute into the future science fiction, pushed so far into reality that it suddenly snaps and becomes ultra-realistic. Every movement, every dialogue, every turn of the plot feels absolutely true and plausible, and the initial outbreak of the war is chilling; this is probably how it would feel. At the same time I realize that this is how many people live in the wars of real-life.
